SCOTTISH CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE WELCOME SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT ECONOMIC STRATEGY

Commenting on publication today of the final refreshed Scottish Government Economic Strategy, Liz Cameron, Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:

“This refresh is timely and important in response to the massive change in the economic environment that has occurred since the publication of the first Government Economic Strategy in 2007.

“Scottish Chambers of Commerce are delighted to see the Scottish Government outline its commitment to supporting business and economic growth. We are glad to see the continuation of the Small Business Bonus Scheme, and the commitment to using capital spend to maximise economic impact.

“The Scottish Government’s commitment to using public procurement to drive economic growth is particularly welcome. This is an issue on which Scottish chambers of Commerce have been working closely with the Scottish government for some while, and we know that they have long recognised the value of procurement as an economic tool.

“We look forward to working with the Scottish Government on the detail and implementation of the Economic Strategy. As Scotland’s most comprehensive business organisation, a key role of Scottish Chambers of Commerce is in facilitating the Scottish Government’s work and engagement with business. This Strategy provides a solid basis for taking that work forward.”
