Moray MP Angus Robertson and MSP Richard Lochhead have both offered their congratulations and support to Stewart Stevenson - currently MSP for Banff & Buchan - who will be standing for the Scottish Parliament in the Buckie area when constituency boundaries change in next year’s elections.
Angus Robertson MP said:
“Stewart is an excellent MSP in the existing Banff & Buchan Constituency but when boundaries change for next year’s election he will be SNP candidate for the new Banffshire & Buchan Coast seat, which will include Buckie and the coastal villages round to Cullen and the surrounding area.
“With Stewart’s track record I am confident he will make an excellent MSP here and I look forward to supporting him in his campaign in the coming weeks and months.”
Richard Lochhead MSP said:
“It has been a great pleasure for me to represent the Buckie and the neighbouring fishing villages over the last few years and I am sad to see the boundary change removing these communities from the Moray Constituency.
“I know that Stewart has been a very strong MSP in the neighbouring Banff & Buchan Constituency and he will be a very capable, hard working and enthusiastic candidate in next year’s elections. I am delighted to endorse him as a candidate.”
