SNP MSP and candidate for the new Banffshire & Buchan Coast constituency Stewart Stevenson has been appointed to the Scottish Parliament’s Rural Affairs & Environment Committee.
Mr Stevenson joins fellow SNP MSP Maureen Watt on the committee, boosting the North-east’s representation. The committee deals with agriculture and fisheries within its remit, two of the most important industries in Banffshire & Buchan Coast.
Commenting on his appointment, Stewart Stevenson said:
“I am delighted to have been appointed to the Parliament’s Rural Affairs & Environment Committee. I am particularly pleased to be joining the committee as it covers agriculture and fisheries which are of course two of the industries which are vital to the North-east.
“For example, the Committee is currently looking at the future of agricultural support and is considering the Pack Report – a very important issue for rural Scotland.
“I’m looking forward to playing my part in the work of the Committee in the weeks ahead.”
