Stevenson - ‘SNP Will Protect Concessionary Bus Travel From LibDem Cuts’

Commenting on Liberal leader Tavish Scott’s announcement that free bus travel for pensioners and other groups would be cut by the LibDems, SNP candidate for the new Banffshire & Buchan Coast constituency Stewart Stevenson MSP said:

“The SNP is committed to this policy and wants to protect Scotland’s progress in creating a society that looks after our pensioners, vulnerable and veterans.

“I’m astonished that the LibDems want to cut this scheme since they have spent the last few years claiming we should be giving bus companies more money. They now look like they practise double standards with this u-turn.

"The SNP has protected concessionary travel and will be extended it to disabled veterans. Do the LibDems want us to scrap that too?

“The feed back I get on the doorsteps is that the national concessionary fare scheme is a lifeline for many and the SNP pledge to protect this scheme.”
