The SNP revealed the 5-year freeze as the party launched its manifesto last week.
Speaking in Peterhead’s Clerkhill area, Stewart Stevenson said:

“The SNP froze council tax in the last parliament and we will freeze it again, saving the average household over £1,200 under an SNP Government.
“The SNP is the only party to have put a stop to ever increasing tax bills at a time when family bills are under growing pressure.
“Here in Buchan people know Labour wants to put their council tax up. Labour have spent the last four years opposing the council tax freeze. They cannot be trusted to keep household bills down.
“Over this week as the campaign steps up a gear we will be taking our message onto the streets to ensure voters know that it is only with a re-elected SNP Government that they can keep the council tax down and protect their household budgets."
Peterhead South & Cruden councillor Stephen Smith added:
“The SNP have stood by their word and kept council tax bills down for families across the country.
“The SNP have a record of keeping council tax bills down, with representatives like Stewart they have a team you can trust and I know they have a vision for a better Scotland.
“On May 5th it has to be a vote for Alex Salmond for First Minister, for Stewart Stevenson and for a council tax freeze across Scotland.”
